"It is a public knowledge that the BJP ran away after Capt Amarinder Singh announced to hold a parallel rally the same day at Amritsar," read a statement signed by rally coordinator Rana Gurjit Singh and MLAs OP Soni, Raj Kumar Verka, Sukhbinder Singh Sukh Sarkaria, Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa.

About Chugh saying that Delhi assembly polls would give the "perfect reply" to Amarinder, they said, "Capt Amarinder does not need to prove his popularity and charisma in New Delhi as he has already proved it in Amritsar during the general elections… If you still have any doubts about it, you better ask your senior leader and finance minister Arun Jaitely (who had lost to Amarinder)."
