Chief judicial magistrate (CJM) of a district court of Ambala, Haryana, on Wednesday, has remanded police constable SA Bijender Singh in four days police custody for his alleged involvement in narcotics smuggling.
The accused, who was arrested on February 4 from Ambala city police station where he was posted as security agent, was produced before the CJM on Wednesday and the next date of hearing is February 9.
Sources said Bijender and his two accomplices Rajinder Parshad and Mahinder had been booked under the Narcotics Drugs Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) adding that the two were already in police custody till February 7.
They said deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Surinder Pal Singh had suspended him and had also ordered a departmental enquiry.
The DCP said a special team headed by assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Hitesh Yadav had been constituted to investigate his alleged involvement in the narcotics trade.
The DCP added that the police had a tip-off that a consignment of smack from Barabanki (UP) resident Rajinder Parshad was to be delivered to city resident Mahinder.
He said the police arrested Rajinder and Mahinder on February 2 with 500 gm smack worth Rs 2crore adding that during interrogation, the duo had disclosed Bijender's involvement.
