The incident took place at Hotel 42 Heights in Attawa, Sector 42. Hotel manager Dinesh Kumar said the couple hired a room at 5 pm and after around an hour the staff heard their screams. Despite repeated knocks, no one opened the door so the police were informed. The hotel staff broke open the door to find both vomiting. Kumar said both were taken to the PGI with the help of a PCR team, where Anjum died within a few minutes and Zakhir died a few hours later. Sector 36 SHO Inspector Ram Dayal said it appeared to be a case of suicide. No suicide note was found. He said it could be a case of unsuccessful love story due to family or other reasons.
