The state secretariat of Communist Party of India (Marxist) has demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the nexus of real estate giant Delhi Land and Finance (DLF) with country's two main political parties - Congress and BJP.
While accusing the Congress and the BJP of creating a real estate mafia in Himachal, the CPM termed DLF's Samatara apartments in Shimla as one of the biggest scams in the state.
State secretariat member of the CPM Tikender Panwar alleged that the BJP government allotted land to DLF for apartments' construction in the green belt of Kanlog area in the heart of Shimla town.
He alleged that in violation of all norms, the real estate firm got all clearances in a single day. "The permission to construct a road up to the apartments was also given by the state government in the guise of facilitating villagers living around the DLF property," Panwar said.
The Dhumal government was so desperate to clear the project that a memorandum submitted and signed by 20 individuals was made the basis for clearance, he claimed.
He said that four of the signatories had died many years before they supposedly signed the memorandum, another two have no connection with the DLF site as they reside elsewhere, while another three had denied having ever signed the memorandum.
Panwar also sought a CBI probe into the alleged favours of one of the members of the Gandhi family had received from DLF as being claimed by civil society member Arvind Kejriwal.
