On the occasion of Khalsa birth anniversary, also observed as Sikh Nationalism Day, the members of Dal Khalsa's youth wing took out a protest march against an upcoming controversial Punjabi film, 'Nanak Shah Fakir', in Anandpur Sahib on Tuesday.
The protest rally commenced from Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College and culminated at Takht Kesgarh Sahib. The protesters were wearing T-shirts displaying the message 'defender of the faith' and carried flags, placards and banners while raising slogans against the movie and its producer.
Earlier, addressing a conference, Dal Khalsa chief HS Dhami said the lack of action oriented programmes by Sikh religious bodies such as Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DSGMC), were unfortunate.
Another member Kanwar Pal Singh said for the past three weeks, they had been urging Akal Takhat, SGPC, the Censor Board and the Union as well as the state government to ban the movie but to no avail.
"Now, we are left with no option but to fight against its release,"he said, adding they would "defend the fundamentals of the Sikh religion to maintain the distinct identity of the Sikhs at any cost".

Paramjit Singh Gazi, Harsimran Singh, youth leader Prabhjot Singh and Paramjit Singh Tanda were also present.
