The police said the girl retracted her statement and said her father was a habitual drinker and his attitude towards her was strict. The police said they would move court for cancellation of the first investigation report (FIR).

Sector 36 station house officer (SHO) Bhupinder Singh said the girl was started giving contradictory statements on Tuesday evening only when she was asked to brief about the incidents of being raped by her father repeatedly.

The SHO said her changing statements raised suspicion over the complaint. Following that, the SHO said they had decided to record her statement before the magistrate to confirm her allegations but she retracted.

The police said they detained the girl’s parents to verify her statement but did not arrest her father after finding the victim changing her statement.
