Deputy commissioner Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu has urged the state transport department secretary to provide special route buses to facilitate the employees working in various industrial and IT groups of Phase 8, 8-B, Sector 91 and 74.
In a written communication to TPS Fulka, director of CTU, Sidhu has also asked to change the route of bus numbers 20, 20-B, 246, 20-C through industrial area Phase 8, 8-B, Sector 91 and Sector 74. These bus numbers are presently following the route from Chandigarh- SAS Nagar, Sohana- Lakhnaur, Landran-Kharar.
The DC said the re-routing was necessary to facilitate the employees working in various industrial groups. Thousands of people working in IT companies and other industrial units in the industrial area have to face several problems due to improper transportation.
Sidhu said that the decision to change or provide special routes to the industrial area was taken during a meeting with the representatives of different companies operating from the area.
"Due to the lack of bus service, many employees don't show their willingness to work here, which is the reason we have decided to reroute some routes,"he added.
