The family had identified a body found in Dabwali in Sirsa district of Haryana to be that of Rajni.

The stunning development took place during the resumed hearing of a petition filed by Rajni’s mother Asha Rani, seeking directions to the Haryana police for conducting a proper investigation into the FIR registered on April 27 at Dabwali Sadar police station, under section 302 (murder), and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the IPC, by constituting a special investigation team.

Rajni, who was produced by Asha Rani before the court, informed it that she was abducted by Sandeep and Sahil, residents of Kanahiya Nagar in Bathinda, in April and was kept at Moga.
Keeping in view the peculiar facts of the case, the court headed by justice TPS Mann on Thursday also impleaded Punjab police as a party in the case and issued it notice of motion to file its reply. The court also directed the Punjab police to ensure security to Rajni, who is married and wants to stay with her husband at Baghapurana town in Moga district.

‘Cremation’ done by mother, husband

Rajni’s mother and husband had conducted the cremation of the body taken to be that of Rajni. Rajni’s husband Shamu and mother had on April 30 identified the body found hanging from a tree in Dabwali as that of Rajni. Her mother had mentioned in her petition that the post-mortem indicated sexual abuse as well as the murder of “her daughter”.
The case will come up for hearing on October 30.

Whose body was cremated

Now, the question remains as to whose body was found hanging from the tree in Dabwali that was taken to be that of Rajni and was cremated by the family.
