Unbeaten knocks by middle-order batsmen Alimuddin (45 not out) and Rohit Hande (26 not out) helped Delhi Dragons defeat Haryana Heroes by five wickets in a match of the Youth Premier League at the Sector-16 Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Batting first, the Heroes posted a healthy total of 154 for the loss of one wicket in the given 20 overs. With unbeaten 85, Rocky Ratta was the top scorer for the outfit, while Mohinder Kaila played an equally important knock of 60 runs. For the Dragons, Akhil claimed the only wicket for 29 runs.
Replying, the Dragons overhauled the target by making 158 for the loss of five wickets with one over to spare. While Alimuddin and Hande teamed up to guide the winners home, Ayush Mittal chipped in with 40 runs. For the losing side, Rocky Ratta (2 for 33) and Ankur (1 for 28) were the wicket-takers.
In the second match of the day, Punjab Panthers defeated Reva Tigers by narrow-margin of 24 runs.
The Panthers batted first and posted a formidable total of 110 for the loss of five wickets in the given 10 overs. With 51 runs, Manoj Dutt was the top scorer for the side, while Amit chipped in with 21 runs. For the Tigers, Tahir and Anand claimed two wickets each for 15 and 21 runs, respectively.
