In a statement here, Thakur said, “The way a few leaders have knelt before the government and are compromising over the issues concerning employees is really a matter of concern”.He said: “About 2.5 lakh employees of the state have to elect their leader democratically and through proper channel of voting and mandate process. Whosoever has declared them leaders without going into the election process is definitely no mass leader. The government should also avoid these self-styled leaders in the interest of the employees,” he said.

He added that the real grievances and issues of the employees have now taken a back seat, which is unfortunate. Thakur said that his association strongly criticised the state government's decision to reduce pension benefits on volunteer retirement by 40 percent.
