Ex-serviceman held for daughter's murder in Haryana village

Police have taken a former armyman into custody for allegedly killing his teenaged daughter at Rewari Khera village in Bhiwani district.

The 16-year-old girl was shot dead by her father Ratanpal in an inebriated condition, the police said.

The family reportedly quietly cremated the body after the crime. A forensic team was sent to the cremation site on Tuesday for collecting samples, superintendent of police (SP) B Satish Balan said.

Police authorities meanwhile suspended village police station incharge assistant sub-inspector for not reacting in time and allowing the body to be cremated.

The SP said it was not a case of "honour killing", adding that a case under Section 302 of IPC had been registered.
