Food Corporation of India (FCI) has decided to continue with the existing system of payment to farmers through commission agents (arhatiyas) in Punjab and Haryana.

In its letter to Haryana Regional Office, the FCI has advised that accounts of payments made by FCI to arhatiyas for making payment to farmers should be kept so that the benefit of Minimum Support Price is ensured to the peasants from whom the foodgrains have been purchased, a corporation release said.
