Police have booked property dealer-cum-financier Ram Lal and his son Amit Chaudhary, 37, who is into event management, for the murder of Sector 49 resident Puneet Sandhu. The 27-year-old model was found dead at her accommodation at the Punjab and Sind Bank Officers House Building Co-operative Society on Thursday night. The woman died of three bullet injuries on her cheeks, head and shoulder.
The post-mortem report stated that she was shot in the head from behind, another bullet was found in the right cheek which came out from lips and the third shot was fired on the upper part of left shoulder.
Amit was reportedly a live-in partner of Puneet, who hailed from Patiala. He was also a father of two.
Police sources said Puneet and Amit had been living together for two years. The murder was reportedly discovered by Amit when he reached the house around 10.30pm. He told the police that his repeated knocks went unanswered, but he found the door to be unlocked and saw Puneet’s body in a pool of blood.
He claimed to have picked her up and have brought her to GMCH-32 where she was declared brought dead. Amit them called up Puneet’s sister, Avneet, and informed her.
Sources said three bullets and a cartridge of 7.5 mm pistol were recovered. Avneet told the police that Ram Lal was against the relationship and had threatened her sister on Thursday.
