First phase of Hola Mohalla fest starts

The first phase of the historic Hola Mohalla festival started at Kiratpur Sahib on Wednesday. The first phase will continue till March 14 after which Anandpur Sahib will be the centre of main celebrations from March 15 to 17.

Devotees from all parts of the country and abroad have started arriving at Kiratpur Sahib and Anandpur Sahib to pay obeisance in various gurdwaras. All gurdwaras and the streets leading to them in both towns had been decorated.

An "akhand path" has started at Gurdwara Patalpuri Sahib in Kiratpur Sahib, the bhog of which will be held on March 16. Various sects of Nihangs have already arrived in Anandpur Sahib to participate in the celebrations and Hola Mohalla procession.

Rupnagar district administration and Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) have made elaborate arrangements for the festival.
