Some civilian and army temporary structures were damaged in the floods. However, there was no report of any casuality.

Reports reaching here on Thursday said due to heavy overnight rains, several roads connecting outskirts to Kargil town were snapped because of more than four feet of mud accumulated near Iqbal bridge.

Traffic from these areas, including Baroo to town has been suspended and diverted through bypass road from Poyen.

Biaqpae Lungma, a small stream from Baroo mountain, was over flowing, which also brought mud and heavy stones.

About 500 meters of road was under more than four feet of mud, the report said adding disrupting traffic movement.

The executive officer of Kargil municipality, Sajjad Hussain Munshi, visited the affected areas early this morning along with civil and army officials.

The district administration has pressed into service machines to clear the mud on the road.
