Dense fog blinded the region reducing the visibility to just few metres forcing several trains to run behind schedule, officials said, adding that motorists had to move on snails pace due to low visibility.

The MeT office said here that barring Amritsar, the entire Punjab and Haryana remained engulfed under dense fog.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures in most parts of Punjab and Haryana hovered between two degrees celsius below normal to five notches above normal.

In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Amritsar was the coldest place with a low of 0.7 degrees celsius, which was two notches below normal.
