The Punjab government on Friday suspended a forester and a forest guard for negligence in duty following the axing of 22 trees in a forest area in Gurdaspur district, Punjab forest minister Chunni Lal Bhagat said here.

He said laxity in official work, especially on issues such as illegal felling of trees, would not be tolerated.
