Though four persons have been arrested in the case of assault on a Kurukshetra University teacher during the University Grants Commission's National Eligibility Test (NET) held on June 30, Kurukshetra University Teachers' Association (KUTA) on Wednesday demanded a high-level probe into the incident.
Condemning the attack on Anand Kumar, assistant professor of the university college, association secretary Parmesh Kumar told HT that the incident indicated that a racket was active in leaking question papers, hence the demand for probe.
He said that subsequent to investigations and arrest of four persons, including an invigilator at one of the NET exam centres, it had come to light that the accused invigilator had thrown three question booklets outside the centre around 10 minutes before the test started. Photographs of the booklets were being allegedly clicked by another accused, in order to be circulated among others, but supervisor Anand Kumar caught him.
Thereafter, the accused allegedly attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon, after which the police were called.
Stating that it was shocking to see how could an outsider attack Anand Kumar, who was the centre supervisor for the NET examination at Government Senior Secondary School, KU, Parmesh Kumar said the KUTA demanded adequate security for teachers on such sensitive duties to avoid recurrence of such incidents.

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile, a teachers' delegation also met KU vice-chancellor Lt Gen (retd) DDS Sandhu to show resentment over the incident and demanded stern action against the accused.
