It was a ride that was bound to end in tragedy and death and it did.

Four friends in their 20s on two separate two-wheelers, indulging on stunts on the road leading to Sector 43, skidded and rammed into each other near the Sector-42 petrol pump last weekend (Saturday night) and one of them Mayank Daksh (21) a resident of Sector 41, succumbed to his injuries at the PGIMER on Tuesday morning. Doctors have listed head injuries as the cause.
The victim Mayank was a first-year student at Dr Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Chandigarh. He was the son of a farmer hailing from Madhya Pradesh and was staying with his parents. The other three were seriously injured.
Mayank was driving one of the motorcycles MP16-MD-8619 and Satyam Richhariya was pillion riding with him. The other vehicle, a scooter CH01-P-3117 was being driven by Rinku with friend Punit Kumar riding pillion. Sourcessaid the two vehicles rammed into each other at speed near the Sector-42 petrol pump at around midnight on Saturday; passersby rushed them to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32. The authorities here referred Mayank, Rinku and Satyam to the PGIMER. A case has been registered against Rinku and Mayank under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC.
