Youth Welfare Association (YUWA), Panjab University, on Friday announced that it would provide free coaching for medical and engineering entrance exams for students from economically weaker sections of the tricity.

At a press conference, YUWA campus president Vivek Chaudhary said the idea was to provide a free coaching facility to first-year students, who, despite getting admissions to science courses in the university, were still aspiring for admissions to engineering and medical courses.
He said, “During the election campaign, we found that many first-year students, who had enrolled in undergraduate courses are aspiring to crack the entrance exams of professional courses such as All India Pre Medical Test, Joint Entrance Examination and entrance test conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.”
He further said many students could not enroll in several coaching institutes due to financial constraints.
He said a few trainers from the tricity and faculty members of PU had supported their move and would be training students for the competitive exams for free.

{{/usCountry}}The student group stated that Bharat Vikas Parishad, a non-government group, would provide the space and other required infrastructure for the weekend classes.
