Fresh snow in Doda, Kishtwar; link roads closed

Heavy snowfall was witnessed in Doda, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Thathri, Gondho Bhalessa and various other places of the Chenab valley region, leaving the region under severe cold.

In upper reaches, 4-5 foot snow has accumulated, particularly in Dessa valley, Basam Gul, Galla Dhar, Gurmul Kastigarh, Allakund Peepran, Kailsh Kund Jayee Padri top and areas near the Himachal Pradesh border.

People in these places are facing hardships as almost all drinking water supply lines are totally damaged and they are now using water from melted snow for drinking purpose. Link roads are also closed due to landslides, disrupting traffic movement.

Several villagers told HT that they had approached the administration to restore link roads so that essential commodities can be supplied, but nothing has happened so far. Resentment prevails among locals against the administration in different areas and they are demanding immediate action into the matter.
