Malhotra, who has been lodged in prison in connection with a fraud case registered against him, has been summoned for a hearing on January 6. CBI on July 24, 2011, had registered a case against Ghira and Manmohan Singh, the reader to DSP, under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Manmohan Singh, a co-accused, had later turned approver in the case.

CBI sleuths had arrested Ghira while allegedly accepting a bribe of `1 lakh from Malhotra, a realtor, for helping him out in an inquiry pending against him. The CBI claimed that Ghira had sought the bribe to facilitate a clean chit to Malhotra in the case.
