To deal with accident and other injury cases, the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector-32 is coming up with a `250-crore 100-bed trauma centre at ten acres of land in Sector 53. Dr Harsh Mohan, acting director-principal, said: “The boundary wall of the land has been constructed. Construction will start soon .” The land was allotted to the college in 2008, but it remained entangled in a legal battle due to encroachments. Now, the court has ordered removal of encroachments.
“The union government offered funding to open trauma centres and we applied for the facility,” said Dr Sudhir Garg, head, orthopaedics department, GMCH-32.
