Most of the schools in district including private ones celebrated teachers’ day with PM Narendra Modi’s address to students on Friday.
“The address of prime minister was organised in all 419 government schools of the district. At a number of places, TV sets were organised by the village community and at other places we have TV sets owing to edusat programmes,” said Savitri Sihag, deputy education officer.
On power outages, she clarified, “Some schools did have problem of power shutdown as there were rains. Some even managed with generator sets.”
Teacher day at Bhavan Vidyalaya was celebrated with various activities like slogan writing, poster making, greeting card making, creative writing to name a few. By 2:45 pm the students and teachers had took up their positions at the pre designated venues to listen to PM’s interactive speech.
Students and teachers of The Gurukul were audience to the live telecast of PM’s interactive session. When asked about their view on the PM’s address, the students of The Gurukul were all appreciative of it. School’s head girl Rhea Sharma said, “Mr. Modi’s speech has led our thought process towards thinking critically about the broader issues concerning the nation.”
At St Xavier’s School here, a slogan writing contest and cultural programme was organised. Principal George S Shear addressed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the teachers and reminded them of their duties and asked the children to remember that they should respect and love their teachers at all times. Blue Bird School organised handwriting competition and poster making contests.

Students wished the teachers at Sky World School with greeting cards and flowers. A number of games were organized for teachers and lunch was served. At Saupins’ School here students gave contribution by giving spectacular dance performances and a drama by the students of dramatic club.
The rain could not dampen the spirits of students and school authorities who celebrated the Teachers’ Day with great fervour today at the Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 7, Panchkula.
Around 800 students of Manav Mangal school were mesmerised when they watched PM Narendra Modi and heard him speak live from Delhi.
