Haryana guv’s security men in dock

A 40-year-old woman has been allegedly sexually assaulted by a member of Haryana Raj Bhawan’s security staff, reports HT Correspondent.

In a first of its kind incident in the city, two persons, including a member of Haryana Raj Bhawan’s security staff, have been accused of raping a 40-year-old woman in the wee hours of Thursday. Another security personal with the Raj Bhawan has been arrested on charges of illegal confinement and issuing threats to the woman.

While constable Dinesh of Haryana Armed Force and Vijinder, a commando with the governor’s security, have been arrested, Situ, a resident of Rohtak in Haryana, is absconding.

The trio, who were in an inebriated state, forcibly took the woman to one of the police quarters allotted to security staff near the Raj Bhawan around 1.15 am. The victim works as a cook with a caterer and was returning home in an auto-rickshaw with her employer, Mahavir, from a function at Rock Garden. In her statement to the police, the woman said Mahavir got a call on his mobile near the Raj Bhawan and asked the auto-rickshaw driver to slow down. Situ, who is a relative of Dinesh, stopped the auto-rickshaw at Sector 3, 5, 7, 8 roundabout, a few metres from Raj Bhawan and demanded matchbox from the driver. He later entered into an altercation with Mahavir and called up Vijinder and Dinesh to beat up Mahavir and the driver. Situ allegedly took the victim to one of the quarters and tried to lock Mahavir in the bathroom. Mahavir managed to escape.
