Chief secretary PK Chaudhery said that individual health cards would ensure regular health check-ups of the inmates and follow-up treatment.

The CS had presided over a meeting convened by women and child development department and reviewed the welfare measures taken by different state departments on the recommendations of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights in Chandigarh on Monday.

Chaudhery said that the state government would ensure the safety, health and welfare of inmates residing in such CCIs while police department had already appointed child welfare officers in each police station. The names of these CWO along with their mobile numbers would be sent to women and child development department immediately.

Due publicity would be given about these officials so that the public was able to contact them in case of need. A comprehensive training to sensitise these CWOs regarding problems of children and laws in this regard would also be organised with the coordination of women and child development department within a month, he added.
