Disposing of the petition filed by Jyoti on Tuesday afternoon, the bench of justice NK Sanghi directed senior superintendent of police, Jalandhar (rural), that she be provided security, if she approached for it.

In August she had moved high court seeking protection from her parents as she had married a Phillaur resident, Kunal Passi, against their wishes.

The couple also lived for some time at Chandigarh’s protection home in Sector 19 on court orders.

During the hearing on Tuesday, her counsel submitted that she be given security as she was still getting threats through phone and other means.
