Punjab and Haryana high court today ordered the release of four Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) leaders on bail, including its president Simranjit Singh Mann who were arrested on March 29 and lodged in Bathinda central jail.
Others given bail are Jaskaran of Ferozepur district, Bahadur Singh of Sangrur district and Gurjant Singh Kattu of Barnala district.
The petitioners were arrested under Section 107 (security for keeping peace in other cases) and 151(arrest to prevent commission of cognizable offences) of CrPC on March 29 from Bathinda.
The application for bail was moved before sub-divisional magistrate of Bathinda on March 31 but he refused to accept the application.
The petitioners then approached the high court seeking directions to the SDM to release them on bail.
