The division bench comprising justices Rakesh Kumar Jain and Paramjeet Singh issued notice of motion to the Punjab government as well as the board for July 8.

The petitioner, RK Goyal, informed the court that he had found that many questions in the paper had been wrongly framed and due to such errors apparent in some of the questions, the nature of the question itself changed.

The petitioner said there were many questions which were grammatically incorrect that confused the students. By such questions, the students got confused and did not even know that the attempt had been incorrectly made on a wrong premise, he submitted. This eventually led to marking of the answer as wrong at the stage of checking, resulting in students' loss.

He informed the court that despite bringing out the fact that major discrepancies were regularly appearing in the mathematics question papers since 2010, even the education minister did not pay heed to this.
