Taking up a public interest litigation, the Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday put stay on Haryana government’s notification of 2010 regularizing the illegally constructed commercial complexes on residential plots within the limits of municipal corporation, Faridabad.
The PIL filed by Krishan Lal Gera of Faridabad came up for hearing before the division bench comprising chief justice Ranjan Gogoi and justice Mahesh Grover.
The petitioner informed the bench that the state government issued a notification on November 10, 2010 regularizing commercial complexes on residential plots without changing the land use from residential to commercial purpose.
It was submitted that the municipal authorities regularized illegally commercial complexes on residential plots on 44 streets in Faridabad city. The petitioner had sought quashing of the government notification dated November 10, 2010.
It was submitted that the basic structure of the Faridabad city, which was to be developed as a model city is being ruined by the persons having vested interests in connivance with the authorities and the city is turning into a completely non-planned city.
The state has been directed to submit its reply before April 20.
