The Punjab and Haryana high court has given the nod for the release of Bollywood movie Grand Masti on Friday, as per its schedule.
The directions came on Thursday by the division bench headed by chief justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul while setting aside the stay put by a single-judge court on September 10 over allegations of vulgar dialogues and obscene content, besides scenes that degrade women.
The movie starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh and Aftab Shivdasani is a sequel to Masti, which was released in 2004.
The directions came on a letters patent appeal filed by the movie's producer, Maruti International Films, Mumbai, challenging the single-judge stay order on the certificate issued by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on June 14.
The petitioner informed the court on Thursday that the single judge had stayed the release of the movie without affording an opportunity to it to represent its case. It was also submitted that before the single judge, petitioner advocate Dinesh Chadha had concealed the important fact that Grand Masti had been awarded 'A' certificate (exhibition restricted to viewers above 18 years of age) by the CBFC.
The court was informed that the promo shown on television and in cinema halls had been given 'U' certificate and its contents were neither vulgar nor objectionable.

{{/usCountry}}It was also submitted that Chadha had not followed the proper procedure under rule 32 of the cinematograph (certification) rules, 1983, read with Section 6 of the Cinematograh Act, 1952, that provides a procedure for making a complaint to the CBFC and in exercise of its revisional powers can make appropriate orders.
