The hearing on a petition challenging the land acquisition for a road leading to a resort owned by the Badals in SAS Nagar has been adjourned to August 19.

The case could not be taken up on Thursday due to paucity of time. The interim order, whereby the state has been asked not to construct the road on the petitioner's land would continue till the next date of hearing.

Petitioner Juveeza Chadha, a resident of Majra village, had challenged the land acquisition for the controversial 100-ft-wide and 1.3-km-long road being constructed leading to the resort, Metro Eco Green Resorts, at Palanpur village, 2km from where this road ends.

She has also sought to make both chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and his son and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal parties in the case.
