The HLP supremo Maheshwar Singh termed the Congress and the BJP as "two sides of the same coin" with regard to graft.

"The party observed that the present government has failed to deal with the public related issues. Law and orders situation in the state has deteriorated and thefts at the historical temples have become the order of the day," Singh said. The HLP head Singh, who is the local legislator, is also the principal guardian of the deity lord Raghunath, whose antique idols were stolen from the temple.

The HLP also expressed its concern over the graffiti at the premises of employees' state insurance hospital in Mandi where the miscreants wrote slogans favoring Pakistan. "It appears that the forest and land mafia was active in the state like it was during the previous BJP regime," said Maheshwar Singh.

The HLP also raised concerns over the grim financial condition of the state. The party demanded the government reduce value added tax on petrol and diesel since the price of crude oil has come down drastically in the international market. The party also accentuated reducing the bus fare.
