Claiming that people were feeling "dejected" as the "true face" of the BJP-led Central government has been unmasked, Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday exuded confidence that the Congress will form the government in the state for the third time in a row.
"An atmosphere was created in favour of one person (referring to Narendra Modi) in the country ahead of Lok Sabha polls as if he had a magic wand and would solve all issues, including inflation, but now in less than two months the people are feeling dejected and cheated as the true face of the BJP Government stands exposed," Hooda said addressing a public meeting in Julana in Jind district.
Attacking the BJP-led government, he said that the NDA had allegedly failed to contain inflation as was projected ahead of Lok Sabha polls by its the then Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
"In less than two months of coming to power, the BJP led regime has burdened the people with price rise of various commodities. The people of the country as well as of Haryana are feeling cheated as no concrete steps have been taken to contain inflation as was promised before the Lok Sabha polls," he said.
Hooda said the steps which the BJP led government had taken during past month have exposed its "hollow claims" of "good days ahead".
Exuding confidence of a good show by the Congress in the assembly polls in the State, which are due in October, Hooda said, "I have been holding workers and public meetings across the state...I have lot of political experience...I can say with confidence that the Congress will form the government in Haryana for the third successive term".
"Now people have understood that they have been cheated by voting for an individual," he said hitting out at the BJP.
Also hitting out at the 'Gujarat model' of development, Hooda said, "Haryana has done much better on several fronts than Gujarat" and gave comparing datas between his State and the BJP-ruled State in terms of price of diesel, per capita income, old age pension, education, health and agriculture.
Hooda claimed that during the nine-year tenure of Congress government "Haryana has reached number one position from 14th in terms of development".
Farmers in the state were getting power for eight-hours, while villages for 14 hours and cities 24 hours.
On the occasion, Hooda also launched an attack on main opposition party the INLD, claiming Jind district had lagged far behind when they were in power (1999-2005).
He also touched upon a number of welfare schemes which his government had initiated for different sections of the society.
