Then a Harvard student, he is now the leader of the largest social-networking site in the world and has even turned his sights toward public policy.

Facebook, too, has changed, from a rocky IPO launch in 2012 and uncertain advertising possibilities to surging revenue in its most recent quarter based on growing ad sales. And as the social network has changed so have the ways in which much of the world communicates.
