Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday issued directions to all deputy commissioners (DCs) and senior superintendents of police (SSPs) in field to ensure punctuality and discipline in their respective offices with a view to resolve maximum public issues on the spot to facilitate general masses.

At a public grievances redress programme here, Sukhbir asked the chiefs of civil, police administration and various government departments to ensure maximum sittings in their offices so that the issues of public could be redressed. He said that heads of different department should personally deal with complicated issues to maintain law and order and to curb illegal practices, if any. He also called upon the common masses to take full advantage of various helpline launched by Punjab Government for registration of complaints, if their issues were not redressed at lower level.
Listening to the grievances of people gathered here from different places across the state, the deputy chief minister resolved more than 73 complaints on the spot by issuing necessary directions to the officers concerned. He said the laxity in providing public services and justice to the aggrieved parties would not be tolerated at any cost.
He also asked the divisional commissioners, DCs, IGs, DIGs and SSPs to ensure the completion of time-bound enquiries pending in their offices.
