INLD objects to HERC chief’s appointment, writes to guv

In a letter to governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, INLD national general secretary RS Chaudhry demanded a probe into the appointment by a sitting judge of the high court and said Singh had retired as joint director (administration), a non-technical and class-II post, in the department of industrial training and vocational education, Haryana.

Stating that as HERC chairman, Singh would be required to supervise work and performance of at least 50 chief engineers in the electricity companies and he had been assessed a better candidate than PK Chaudhry, who had retired as chief secretary, Haryana, and PV Rathi, principal adviser to the chief minister, who retired as director general of police.

Chaudhry alleged that the selection of Jagjit Singh had been recommended by a committee headed by IP Vashishtha, a retired high court judge and a resident of Rohtak.

Jagjit Singh’s son, namely, Abhijit Singh is married to granddaughter of IP Vashishtha. Chaudhry said it was shocking that Vashishtha did not consider it proper to have recused from the chairmanship of the search committee where his close relative was one of the contenders for the post.

It may be recalled that the INLD had also accused Hooda of employing and re-employing — after their retirements — his loyalists on various posts in various other commissions too, in a tearing hurry ahead of the assembly elections.
