J&K: Body of missing woman recovered from river

The body of a young woman, who went missing about 12 days back, was recovered from river Jhelum in Baramulla district on Saturday, police said.

The body of a young woman, who went missing about 12 days back, was recovered from river Jhelum in Baramulla district on Saturday, police said.

The body of 25-year-old Tabasum Begum, a resident of Baramulla town, was recovered from the river at Chahalan in Uri sector, 101 kms from here.

Begum was missing since September 18, a police spokesperson said, adding that inquest proceedings have started to ascertain the cause of her death.

Meanwhile, the body of 30-year-old Firdous Ahmad Gashroo was found in a flood channel near Hamdania Colony locality of Bemina here.

The body of Gashroo, a resident of Qamarwari locality of the city, has been handed over to his next of kin after legal formalities, the spokesperson said.
