According to the Factories Act, 1948, if any provision of the act is violated, the occupier and manager of the factory shall each be guilty of an offense, punishable with imprisonment for a term up to two years with a fine of Rs one lakh, the spokesperson added.

He said all the factory owners, who have not registered their units till date, have been instructed to approach the office of the factories and boilers inspector, Kashmir, immediately for registration to avoid prosecution.
