Joshi now promises industrial policy by end of April

Punjab industry and commerce minister Anil Joshi on Monday made yet another timed promise to release the much-awaited industrial policy of the state, announcing that it would be reveled "by April-end".

Earlier postponed from January to March and then April 13, the investment promotion policy is to give special concessions to entrepreneurs to set up their units in kandi (sub-mountainous) and border areas in particular.

Speaking during the inauguration of a placement fest organised by Chandigarh Polytechnic College, Gharuan, near here in association with the Punjab State Board for Technical Education, he said the primary feature of the policy would be to reduce 'inspector raj' in getting approvals from various government agencies.

Approvals for setting up units would be from a single window, and be made transparent and time-bound system. "If an applicant does not get response from a government agency within 30 days, the approval would be deemed as accepted," said Joshi.
