Justice Mittal takes oath as J&K CJ

Justice Mahesh Mittal Kumar today over as chief justice of Jammu and Kashmir high court. Governor NN Vohra administered the oath of office to Justice Kumar at a ceremony at SKICC in Srinagar on this evening.

Justice Mahesh Mittal Kumar took over as chief justice of Jammu and Kashmir high court. Governor NN Vohra administered the oath of office to Justice Kumar at a ceremony at SKICC in Srinagar on Friday evening.

The warrant and notification of appointment of Justice Kumar as chief justice of the high court was read out by registrar general of the HC.

After administering the oath, the Governor congratulated chief justice Kumar and wished him a very successful tenure at the state high court.

Chief minister Omar Abdullah, assembly speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone, ministers, judges of the high court, chief secretary, acting DGP, advocates,
senior civil, judicial and police officers and family members of Justice Kumar were present at the oath ceremony.

Chief justice Kumar was born on January 5, 1953. He was enrolled as advocate on December 22, 1977. During 1977-79, he practiced in Sangrur and in the high court in constitutional, service, labour, civil, cooperative and banking cases.
