Lahore-Delhi bus delayed due to protest at Samalkha

The Lahore-Delhi bus 'Sada-e-Sarhad' was delayed for nearly half-an-hour due to a protest at Samalkha near Panipat on Saturday evening. According to available information, no damage was done to the bus or passengers on board the Delhi-bound bus coming from Pakistan. Sources said that when the Sada-e-Sarhad bus got stuck on the NH-1, the police had to resort to a mild lathi charge to clear the highway.

However, no one sustained any injuries in the police action

The official car of a judge of the Punjab and Haryana high court was also stuck in the jam on Saturday evening.

PROTEST OVER DOC's DEATH, NH-1 BLOCKED

Residents of Samalkha in Panipat had blocked the national highway number 1 in the evening in protest against the death of a doctor in the city.
Dr Sunita Arora died under suspicious circumstances at her maternity home at Samalkha Friday night after a team of health officials conducted a raid.

Following suspicion of certain irregularities under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagonastic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, the team had raided the maternity home being run from the private residence of Dr Sunita Arora.

However, the deceased's husband Ved Prakash alleged that Sunita was murdered by the raiding team, comprising officials of the health department and civil administration.

They held a demonstration and blocked NH-1 and the elevated highway for nearly one-and-half hour.
