A subdivisional-level legal literacy camp was organised by Manali SubDivisional Legal Services Committee at Sajla-Dhamsu village in Left Bank belt of Upper Kullu valley on Sunday, 9 km from here.
Addressing a rural gathering, civil judge Manali-cum-chairman of Manali SubDivisional Legal Services Committee Sandeep Singh Sihag said the main reason behind the ongoing litigation was land-related disputes in the state.
He suggested in order settling the boundary-related disputes, demarcation of the land was essential. The chairman stressed upon a need to get the lands partitioned through mutual consent and understanding to save the time and energy.
Throwing light on the importance of eyewitnesses in criminal cases, Sihag said eyewitnesses must extend cooperation to investigating officers so that culprits could be punished in accordance with law.
Block development officer GS Bains spoke on MNREGs and provisions of the Panchayati Raj Act. Besides, CS Thakur, a local advocate, expressed his views on female foeticide and the Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act.
