Live performances mark World Music Day

Chandigarh Tourism celebrated World Music Day at the Sector-17 Plaza on Saturday.The festivities on June 21 have become a worldwide phenomenon as more than 70 countries across the world celebrate the day in their unique way. Chandigarh Tourism has also adopted the day as an annual event.

Chandigarh Tourism celebrated World Music Day at the Sector-17 Plaza on Saturday.

The festivities on June 21 have become a worldwide phenomenon as more than 70 countries across the world celebrate the day in their unique way.
Chandigarh Tourism has also adopted the day as an annual event.

The programme, which started at 5.30 pm and went on till 9.30 pm, began with an extraordinary performance by renowned Punjabi/sufi singers, the Ali Brothers.

It was followed by a live performance by famous Punjabi artist Prabh Gill who congratulated the authorities for promoting the spirit of music. Umang Sharma, winner of Laughter Da Master, also entertained the audience with his stand-up comedy.

Chandigarh Tourism also gave a platform to under privileged children by inviting NGOs to showcase their talent at Sukhna Lake.

The children performed group dance on various songs. Director of tourism Tanvi Garg said Chandigarh Tourism had always encouraged music and festivity in the tricity and provided young artists with the opportunity to rise to national and international levels.
