It may be recalled that a 32-year-old married woman from backward community, who had been living with her mason husband and seven year old daughter at railway colony in Pillukhera town of Jind district, was gangraped by three youths on September 21.

The perpetrators also circulated two MMS of the whole incident in the town.

The police had registered a case against three persons, including Sandeep Deswal from Jat community. Though police registered the case on the same day, they did not arrest any of the accused till media reported the incident on September 25.

Following that, police arrested one Surajmal Valmiki and father of main accused Sandeep Deswal on September 26.

Later on, police also arrested the other two accused identified as Rinku and Ballu, both residents of Didoli village on September 27.

During identification parade, the victim denied the role of Surajmal Valmiki who was released by the police, while other two arrested youths were identified by her as the culprit. She had also alleged that Sandeep Deswal and his male family members had been threatening to compromise in the case or they would eliminate her.

Jind SP Saurabh Singh told HT "We have arrested Sandeep Deswal from Gurgaon late evening on Tuesday".
