Maluka releases stamp on Punjab scholar

A postal stamp on professor, Ruchi Ram Sahni was released on Thursday by Punjab education minister, Sikander Singh Maluka on the inaugural day of three-day seminar on “Making of Modern Punjab: Education, Science and Social Change in Punjab”.

A postal stamp on professor, Ruchi Ram Sahni was released on Thursday by Punjab education minister, Sikander Singh Maluka on the inaugural day of three-day seminar on “Making of Modern Punjab: Education, Science and Social Change in Punjab”.

The five rupees postal stamp was released in the presence of Chandigarh MP, Pawan Kumar Bansal, former UGC chairperson, Yashpal, PU vice-chancellor (VC) professor, Arun K Grover and chief post master general, Kuldeep Singh.

A brief brochure highlighting the contribution, work and life history was also released on the occasion.

Maluka congratulated the university for topping the country in the Times Higher Education survey and said PU was doing a great national service by producing scientists, statesmen and agriculturists.

He also requested the PU VC to organise a bigger function to celebrate PU's achievement by inviting leaders like chief ministers of Haryana and Punjab.

Chandigarh MP Pawan Bansal congratulated the PU VC and the university for bringing to light the life and works of professor Ruchi Ram Sahni, a Punjab scholar who popularised education in vernacular language.
