Man booked for 'rape' after promising marriage

The police booked a resident of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh for allegedly raping a Sector 29 woman by promising to marry her here on Sunday. The accused, Mukesh Kumar, is yet to be arrested. He works for a private company.

The police booked a resident of Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh for allegedly raping a Sector 29 woman by promising to marry her here on Sunday.


The accused, Mukesh Kumar, is yet to be arrested. He works for a private company.

The police said the woman had alleged that the accused had an affair with her and had developed a physical relation with her on the pretext of marriage.

The accused recently went to his native village in Kangra and married another girl, it has been alleged. On getting to know this, she approached the accused who allegedly threatened her.

The victim later approached the police, who have registered a case under sections 376, 506 of the Indian Penal Code. A police team has left for Kangra to nab the accused.
