A man has been awarded life imprisonment by the sessions court and district judge Subhash Goyal on Monday for killing his wife and daughter.
As per details, convict Shera Singh was arrested after he had pushed his two daughters and wife Kuldeep Kaur into Bhakra canal at Maujgarh village of Dabwali sub-division on December 25, 2010.
Sources said Shera had planned to get rid of his wife and two daughters - Sarvjeet Kaur and one-year-old Preet Kaur. As per the plan he took them for a picnic to the canal.
Thereafter, he pushed the three in the gushing waters of the canal and fled the spot.
A few villagers who were bathing in the canal spotted him pushing the trio and launched a rescue operation, but could only save Shera's elder daughter Sarvjeet Kaur.
The villagers informed the police and Shera was arrested.
