Man mauled to death by wild bear

A 35-year-old man was mauled to death by a wild bear near a forest in Uri sector of Baramulla district in north Kashmir, police said on Friday.

The bear was later axed to death by angry villagers, a police spokesperson said.

Abdul Kabir Abass was attacked by the bear when he and his companions were proceeding towards Gwalta forest to collect fire wood on Thursday, he said.

Abass died on the spot but his associates equipped with axes attacked the bear and killed it.
