China has called on the United States to end its military threats and decades-long blockade against Cuba, warning that the use or threat of force undermines regional and global peace. Speaking at a press briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian urged Washington to lift all forms of sanctions and reaffirmed Beijing's support for Cuba's sovereignty. Lin also rejected a National Endowment for Democracy (NED) report accusing China and Russia of expanding authoritarian influence, calling it "disinformation" and accusing the U.S.-funded organisation of interfering in other countries' internal affairs. He further dismissed claims that China is building a modern "tribute system" in Asia and welcomed Papua New Guinea's decision to close the Taipei Economic Office, describing it as support for the One China principle.
